Artist Bio
Tea Gill is a Nonbinary painter with a flair for the macabre. The artist is based out of South Florida. They got their start in the arts as a Tattoo artist in 2018. For over three years Tea established a very loyal clientele of people from all walks of life. Tea says they love the beauty of human connection and strive to give every client a genuine and accommodating experience. During their time in the tattoo studio, they studied various design styles and subjects, applying them to hundreds of people. In 2020 Tea started to feel the full effects of a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. One symptom of this condition causes the joints to dislocate and subluxate. This created debilitating pain and loss of mobility. With the daily pain progressing, Tea had to put down the tattoo machine. They may have put down the machine, but this gave them space to pick up the brush with a new sense of purpose. This unfortunate reality has not stopped Tea from creating a body of paintings, as well as other creative projects spanning over many different media. The artist has vowed to share their work with the world; in sickness and in health.
Tea loves maximalist expression; in their décor, dress, and paint. You can see this love for the eclectic when you look around their studio. The artist is a parent to five cats, one jumping spider, and a hoard of houseplants. You can find Tea collecting bones, leaves, strange candies, and other oddities as subjects to photograph and paint. Their favorite season (perhaps obviously) is fall, but they also enjoy winter for the perfect weather for a ghost story.
